Principles of Life
Three (private victory) habits:
- Be pro-active (transform ourselves into men and women of integrity)
- Begin with the end in mind (e.g., the purpose of your life or an important project)
- Put first things first

Quadrant:
- Q1: Things to which you absolutely must attend
- Q2: High leverage activities; important but not urgent:
- planning
- preparation
- prevention
- relationship-building
- reading
- improving professional knowledge
- exercise
- etcetera, etcetera.
- Q3: Things that consume your time but do not contribute towards your goals
- Q4:
Put habits 1, 2 and 3 together giving you the ultimate success formula: get your mind right, define what is important, then organise your life to maximise your quadrant 2 efforts.
Four (public victory) habits:
- Think win/win (finding solutions that will truly benefit both sides of a dispute)
- Seek first to understand, then to be understood
- Synergize (when the whole is greater than the sum of the parts)
Sharpen the saw (engage in the exercise of the 4 dimensions which make up the human condition):
- body
- mind
- spirit
- inter-personal
The 8th habit:
- Find your voice and inspire others to find theirs:
- Recognize and develop your true nature
- Express your voice through vision, discipline, passion and conscience
Six cancers (C's) that inhibit people's greatness:
- Cynicism
- Crictism
- Comparing
- Competing
- Complaining
- Contending
